MetroWest Health Foundation Grants $237K to 13 Nonprofits

December 6, 2019 — The MetroWest Health Foundation, based in Framingham, this week announced it awarded $237,424 to 13 area nonprofit organizations to support a range of programs designed to improve health and wellness.

Receiving the grants were the following:
  • A Place to Turn, Natick: $40,000 to purchase healthy food for the food pantry.

  • Bethany Hill Place, Framingham: $20,000 to support enhanced onsite mental health services.

  • Community Legal Aid: $10,000 to support immigrant rights training in the Greater Milford area.

  • Dignity Matters, Wayland: $12,500 to support a program outreach manager position.

  • Edwards Church, United Church of Christ, Framingham: $6,000 to support the Framingham Community Access Point for Veterans.

  • HESSCO Elder Services: $9,915 to support a congregate meal program for LGBTQ elders.

  • Jewish Family Services of Metrowest, Framingham: $26,553 to support a planning process for a cross-sector and coordinated approach for addressing the needs of new immigrants.

  • Kennedy Community Health Center, Framingham: $20,000 to expand school-based mental health services at Framingham High School.

  • Learning Center for the Deaf, Framingham: $20,000 to support training in American Sign Language.

  • Natick Service Council, Natick: $20,000 to develop mobile food markets to support seniors, and $15,000 to purchase healthy food for the food pantry.

  • SPARK Kindness, Natick: $20,000 to expand supports for middle school parents and caregivers.

  • WalkBoston, Boston: $17,500 to engage teens in promoting a more walkable community in Framingham.

  • Women Thriving: $19,956 to offer workshops to build resiliency skills for women.
Founded in 1999, the MetroWest Health Foundation is a grantmaker, convener and facilitator, working to provide resources, information, ideas, and advocacy for community change. It provides grant funding to advance health equity, develop health leaders, ensure basic health needs, facilitate information sharing, foster innovation, and integrate services.
